Edwin James Johnson: Legend Of The Port Arthur Pimp Game
Don't go getting any ideas. That phone number is no longer in service
As the hometown of late Texas rap legend Pimp C., you'd expect the pimp game in Port Arthur to be pretty damn strong. Innovative, even. If the case of Edwin James Johnson is any indication, you would not be disappointed.
According to TV station KBMT, Johnson "gave prospective customers 'coupons' with code numbers that would allow prostitutes know they were not officers. The customers would give the number to women over the phone who would then agree to meet the men."
The meetings would take place at local motels or at homes owned by Johnson in towns all across the Golden Triangle.
Arrested alongside their enterprising pimp were 18-year-old Casandra Rene "Ms. Snow" Lettau (pictured in the coupons) and 22-year-old Jessica "Honey" Gooden, both of Port Arthur. Both women were charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, which could bring them two to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Which is a little weird, because Groves City Marshal Jeff Wilmore told TV station KFDM that the women were "branded" with neck tattoos bearing Johnson's first name and also wore "distinctive clothing" to show they worked for his operation. Johnson's designated love shacks were also said to be painted with unusual blue and white markings. How much were these women benefiting from this organized criminal activity?
(We were a little disappointed that Johnson only used "Edwin" as the pimp name he tattooed on his hooker's necks. Someone with his obvious skills has earned the right to a real pimp name like Lord Mack Daddy Love Jones.)
Johnson, 43, is now charged with first-degree felony aggravated promotion of prostitution. He has lengthy rap sheets in both Jefferson and Harris counties, including convictions for sexual assault, theft by receiving and robbery.
