Everything's Fine, Officer. Oh, My Wife's in Bed Because I Shot Her: Unidentified Female, Bayou Body Count No. 131
Johnny Walter Bass: Admits to killing wife, cops say.
Sad, somewhat bizarre story out of the southeast side: murder charges have been filed against an elderly man who shot his wife and then told police everything was fine, except for the fact his wife was dead from him shooting her.
Johnny Walter Bass, 81, was arrested Sunday in the 3600 block of Willowood Lane after police responded to a welfare-check call.
HPD says Bass answered the door and told officers everything was fine. "Officers then asked Bass where his wife was and he stated she was in the bedroom in the bed because he had shot her in the head on Friday morning," HPD says.
Her identity has not been released because it has not yet been formally verified by the medical examiner.
She was indeed found dead on the bed from a gunshot wound; HPD says Bass was arrested without incident and admitted to his involvement in the killing.
