It’s a good thing Tropical Storm Erin is headed toward Texas and predicted to be ready to drop some heavy duty water on us and cool things off.
Especially our mulch, which according to some people becomes a time bomb on the ground if the right conditions are in place: namely day after day of extremely high temperatures.
This clip from the Dallas area reported by the Dallas Morning News shows a set of playground equipment going up in flames, apparently because of the mulch located underneath.
This was followed a day later with another story featuring experts saying people should not fear using mulch in gardens just because it might spontaneously combust.
Probably best just to stay inside while the experts sort this all out. – Margaret Downing
