Groovy, Man: The Main Street Art Happening, Circa 1973
The `70s, in all their groovy glory, come alive in this short home movie about the Main Street Art Happening, and they just don't name festivals like that anymore unless it's with ironic hipititude.
The 12-minute film comes from the fabulous Texas Archive of the Moving Image and was shot about 1973 by John Frick, who also donated home movies of the rodeo, barbecue cookoffs and other stuff.
The film is silent, so you'll have to pick the proper soundtrack for your iPod. Something long and psychedelic probably works best.
