Heading Downtown This Weekend? Go Ahead and Pretend I-10 East Doesn't Exist
The cold won't be the worst part of heading on I-10 east this weekend
If you’re heading downtown this weekend, it’s not just the cold you have to worry about. According to TxDOT, eastbound I-10, as well as a bunch of ramps around it, will be closed from 9 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Monday because of a bridge reconstruction project.
That means I-10 eastbound, from Heights Boulevard to U.S. 59, pretty much just stops from tonight until early Monday morning. TxDOT says traffic will be diverted to I-45 north or south. Anyone driving through downtown is told to follow I-45 north to Loop 610 east, then take U.S. 59 south back to I-10. If that route sounds like it’s almost a full circle, that’s because it is (or perhaps more like a traffic-snarled horseshoe).
So yeah, if you’re heading downtown, go ahead and ignore I-10 east and find another route.
