Humberto Velasquez, 66, Bayou Body Count No. 175
A gunfight between an apartment resident and a security guard ended in one death Friday night, but a Harris County grand jury will determine if any charges are filed.
Humberto Velasquez, 66, was killed in the shootout in the 5100 block of South Willow on the southwest side of town about 9:55 p.m. Friday, Houston police say.
Velasquez had gotten a call from his son, who said he was having a confrontation outside with the apartment complex's security guard.
Velasquez grabbed a gun, and he and several family members went outside.
"Upon approaching" the scene, HPD says, both Velasquez and the security guard opened fire. The security guard was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in stable condition.
