Javier Alejo: Just 14 Years Old, Shot to Death Sitting Outside an Apartment
Gunned down on the southwest side.
For some people, it doesn't take long to find out just how mean some Houston streets can be.
Javier Alejo, just 14 years old, was sitting on some steps in an apartment complex in the 8900 block of Beechnut about 8 p.m. last night when two men approached.
Shots were fired, Alejo was hit and he was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
"Immediately after the shooting, the suspects ran to their vehicle, a white or silver four-door sedan, and fled the scene in an unknown direction," Houston police investigators say.

The suspects are described only as "a Hispanic male and a black male." Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
Some will jump to conclusions about the reasons for the murder -- and such conclusions may be true, for all we know so far -- but 14 is way, way too young.
