Joseph Eugene Brooks, 60, Burned to Death, Bayou Body Count No. 158
Police arrested a man who went through with a plan to set fire to another man, killing him.
HPD got a "man down" call about 2 a.m. September 6 concerning a body in an apartment complex in the 6200 block of North Wayside.
When paramedics arrived, they found Joseph Eugene Brooks, 60, with "third degree burns over more than half his body and broken facial bones," police say. "He was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he later died."
Investigation led to the arrest Saturday of Jaquan Ondray Bogany, 27, who admitted his role in the killing, police say. "Bogany stated he went to the above location with the intent of assaulting and burning the victim," police say.
He has been charged with murder.
