Sharpstown High School Teacher Ysidoro Rosales-Motola Was Investigated at Westbury High School in 2011
The Sharpstown teacher who was arrested and charged with one felony count of indecency with a child and two felony counts of an improper relationship with a student last week was previously investigated in 2011.
Before coming to Sharpstown, Ysidoro Rosales-Motola was teaching at Westbury High School. While at Westbury, he was investigated by the Houston Police Department on allegations that he had touched a male student in 2011, according to Jeff McShan, spokesman for the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
The police brought the case to the district attorney's office, but the office concluded there wasn't enough evidence to accept charges, according to McShan.
Sharpstown High School Principal Rob Gasparello and assistant principals Silvio Leiva and Jason Thomson were also arrested last week and charged with counts of failure to report sexual abuse of students. Now, Rusty Hardin, the lawyer representing Gasparello, is saying Gasparello did everything right and that he reported the allegations against Rosales-Motola to his superiors (in Hardin's version of things, it was Gasparello's superiors who dropped the ball in contacting law enforcement).
While court records say that the three Sharpstown administrators failed to report the allegations of sexual misconduct between Rosales-Motola and three male students, along with failure to report a reported sexual assault of a 16-year-old female student, measures were taken to get Rosales-Motola out of the classroom as of October 16, according to a letter reassigning the teacher to the telecommunications manager of the alarms and communication department, as reported by the Chronicle.
HPD and HISD have both declined to comment on the case.
