Texas Congressman Ron Paul, the once-Libertarian-now-Republican presidential candidate, was affable enough on The Colbert Report last month .
Now check out this old appearance on the Morton Downey Jr. Show where he whacks an audience member who calls for a government crackdown on drugs.
“The government can’t make you a better person,” Paul says, sounding a refrain that has served him well. “It can’t make you follow good habits.”
Then he draws blood.
