Updated 4:50pmA 51-year-old woman died today after Houston Police said it appears a large falling tree limb struck her in the head. Police won't say if it was weather related, however.
The woman was found lying in the driveway of her home around 7:30 a.m., in the 11000 block of Pandora Drive on the northeast side of town. The Houston Fire Department was first on the scene, but couldn't approach the woman until CenterPoint Energy cut the power to a line that had fallen near her, according to a police report.
The woman's 7-year-old stepson was reportedly injured and may have lost some teeth. Police said he had left the scene and was located at his elementary school. Paramedics transported him to Texas Children's Hospital in stable condition.
The exact cause of the unidentified woman's death is still pending a review by the county medical examiner.

Original story: An unidentified woman today was leaving her home in northeast Harris County to drop her grandson off at school when a tree branch fell, knocking down a power line, according to reports.
The incident was likely caused by the wild storm that's been sweeping through the region.
The part of this story that really hits us the hardest has to do with the kid, who had to watch it all go down.
The little boy ran to school and told his teachers. The boy was injured and was taken to Texas Children's Hospital and he is expected to be OK.
The Houston Chronicle is reporting that officials don't know yet what killed the women.
Fire officials said it was unclear what led to the woman's death. However, she was found near a fallen tree or branch that apparently had pulled down an electrical wire. Officials said it was unclear if the tree or branch hit her or if she may have been electrocuted.
