UH Plays It Very Coy With Questions About A Big East Conference Move
that rumors are swirling about the Big East Conference inviting TCU and UH into its arms.
The conference presidents have been meeting, and while they're not making any big public announcements, they are being pretty free indicating that UH is indeed under consideration.
It'd be a significant move for UH; unlike Conference USA, the Big East gets an automatic bid to a BCS bowl each year.
UH officials have been notably quiet about it all, until this afternoon. When they spoke. Sort of.
The university issued a statement that was completely free of any relevant information, while ostensibly addressing the issue.
Here it is, verbatim and in toto:
The University of Houston is a proud member of Conference USA and enjoys its affiliation with the other 11 member institutions. We have not been contacted by the Big East Conference and are currently focused on winning championships in the 2010-11 season.
In other words, HELL YES we are open to an invitation.
