  • B.B. King Sure Has a Lot of Friends

Is there anyone who doesn't love B.B. King? If you're talking about the 83-year-old bluesman's fellow musicians, the answer is a resounding "No!" King has probably sat in with with more players (and vice versa) than anybody else save perhaps Willie Nelson, with whom of course King has teamed up countless times both live (above) and on record. In honor of his two-night stand at House of Blues - both shows are close to selling out - this weekend, Rocks Off combed YouTube to find a few of the kin

  • Tonight: Cedric Burnside & Lightnin' Malcolm at House of Blues

Colin McAuliffe When you first hear the first few songs on Lighnin' Malcolm & Cedric Burnside's 2 Man Wrecking Crew, you just can't believe it's just two guys playing live in the studio. But working with legendary producer David Z (Jonny Lang, Etta James, Prince), Malcolm and Burnside nailed fourteen tunes in just three days of work - an astoundingly short period at a time when many bands spend months just to perfect a lousy guitar solo. Rocks Off caught up with Burnside over th

  • At Last: Beyonce Serenades President & Mrs. Obama

Beyonce stepped back into her Cadillac Records character Etta James to sing "At Last," and sing the hell out of it, for President and Mrs. Obama's first dance at last night's HD Neighborhood Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C. It's hard to imagine either a better singer or song for the occasion - sorry, Etta - especially the line "I found a dream that I could speak to/ A dream that I could call my own." Cadillac Records, which by the way is excellent, is due on DVD March 10.

  • This Week In Beyonce: Obsessed No. 1 No More, Parisian Holiday, Glamour Cover, Dutch Tantrum and More

Jezebel, via infdaily.comWell, what's Beyonce been up to this week? For starters, Wolverine blew B's semi-erotic thriller Obsessed out of the No. 1 box-office spot, notching $87 million last weekend. Obsessed was also edged by Matthew McConaughey's equally panned romcom Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, which took in $15.3 mil to Obsessed's $12.2 mil. No matter. Beyonce can sleep better knowing her movie will be the last non-blockbuster-type flick to top the box office until probably September. You kn

  • This Week In Beyonce: B Acts... Like What?

Rocks Off can't argue with the fact that Beyonce Knowles is a stone-cold fox when she gets on the microphone and belts out a song, dripping in glitter and wearing a barely-there outfit. Her voice is at once menacing and thundering, but also femininely fragile. Plus she has to be super-cool behind the scenes for Jay-Z to call her his girl, because we are pretty sure he doesn't dig on crazy women as much as we do. But sweet baby Jesus, she can't read lines or emote into a camera unless she's filmi

The host, a beauty from McGregor, whose only mission is to give her guests 100 percent of herself and satisfy their needs for a night of entertainment. In a nutshell, that is what going to a Beyonce concert is like. From the opening of the show when she tempts the audience with parts of "Deja Vu" and then goes into her first solo single "Crazy in Love,"

  • Aftermath: Depeche Mode's Black and Blue Celebration at The Woodlands

Photos by Eric Sauseda Far, far away from the group once known for bubbly synth-pop anthems like "Just Can't Get Enough" and "Everything Counts," Depeche Mode circa 2009 has pressed its small army of keyboards and electronics into the service of primal urges and raw sexuality. Not terribly surprising from a band that once sang about playing "Master and Servant," perhaps, but the degree to which the trio (plus another keyboardist and drummer) has infused bleeding-fingernail blues into its once
