If you don't feel like venturing out into the scary, hectic and chaotic shopping stores on Black Friday, wait until Saturday and head to My Food Park HTX for shopping and eating. The food park will have ten food trucks and a variety of local businesses selling arts, crafts and jewelry. The food truck lineup includes Speers Rolling Bistro, Bernie's Burger Bus, Soul Cat Cuisine, Zeapod Cakery, FoodGasm Htown, Angie's Cake and The Hungry Lumberjack. While you fill up your stomach with yummy treats and bites to eat, check out the local vendors selling everything from handmade jewelry to hair bows and vintage items.
Gingerbread House Workshop @ Quattro Saturday, 2-4 p.m. 1300 Lamar
Spend the afternoon on Saturday with the family at Quattro inside the Four Seasons Hotel during the Gingerbread House Workshop for $48. While your children participate in the gingerbread building workshop, you can enjoy an afternoon tea inside the hotel. Snacks and drinks will be provided for the kids while they build their own gingerbread house. This is the first Saturday the workshop will be offered during the Christmas season. Quattro will continue these workshops every Saturday until December 21.
If you love Saint Arnold beers and can't get enough of the tasty concoctions those guys are brewing, then you won't want to miss this event at the Orange Show Monument this Saturday. From 7 to 11 p.m., Saint Arnold Brewing Company will be serving up some brews you don't get a chance to taste all the time, and according to the Facebook event the Saint Arnold crew has "something special up their sleeves this year." Because burgers, fries and beer go hand-in-hand, Bernie's Burger Bus will be at the event serving up its scrumptious offerings. Mikey & the Drags, The Tyburn Jig and DJ Chingerson will provide the music throughout the evening. Advance tickets cost $20 and tickets at the door cost $25.
Sunday Suppers with the Pope in Outstanding Homes @ John Daugherty, Realtors Luxury Listing Sunday, 6-9 p.m. 3940 Inverness Dr.
Chef Monica Pope of Sparrow Bar + Cookshop will prepare a delightful meal for a special group of 70 people. This meal takes place inside a River Oaks luxury home built in 1958. The evening's menu centers around a "Friendsgiving" theme; Pope will prepare items including beet-cured salmon with hazelnut pesto, creamed greens with pickled stems and radishes, crab wonton with spicy shrimp broth, and a lentil salad with quince, pecans and herbs. She will also serve small desserts -- white chocolate-cranberry cookies, mini gingerbreads and cardamom thumbprints. For $75, each guest will enjoy the dinner prepared by Pope (wine and cocktails included) and explore the luxury listing -- it has three pools (one is rumored to be the largest private pool in the country), a party pavilion with a bar and stage, and a tennis court. Each guest is also asked to bring a plate to use during the dinner.
