5 Can't Miss Weekend-Only Eats in Houston

The weekends are special times to relax and do things you don't normally get to do throughout the week. So, why eat at the same places you can on Monday through Friday, when you could spend your Saturdays or Sundays at places serving food or offering food events only available on the weekend?
Sure, surprise pop-up events are great, and the traditional Sunday brunch is a nice way to catch up with friends and fill up your stomach with incredible food, but so are these five weekend-only food offerings in Houston. Start planning your weekend now so you don't miss out on any of these eats.
5. Brisket Killaches at Pena's Donut Heaven Recently, Pena's Donut Heaven and Killen's Barbecue teamed up to create the Brisket Killaches, and you can only get them on Saturdays and Sundays. Pena's Donut Heaven sells these meaty breakfast pastries on a first come, first serve basis, so wake up early on the weekends to treat yourself to something delicious. As soon as the last Killache is sold, they won't be available until the next Saturday and Sunday. Sure, it's a long drive to Pearland if you live downtown, but it's totally worth it to sink your teeth into the sweet kolache bread encasing tender juicy brisket from Ronnie Killen; don't forget to add a couple dosants or crazy doughnut creations, like ones topped with Froot Loops cereal.
4. Revival Market Saturday Breakfast Every Saturday morning, Revival Market offers a special breakfast for customers. Sometimes the morning meal features classics like French toast or breakfast sandwiches, and sometimes it's the highly sought after kolaches or doughnuts. Sign up for the weekly newsletter to get a sneak peak at the Saturday menu, or follow Revival Market on Facebook to see the announcement. Just remember, when it's kolaches or doughnuts, you better get there early -- those things sell out fast.
3. Saturday Brewery Tours Several breweries around town are open for Saturday-only tours or special Saturday events, such as No Label, Saint Arnold, Buffalo Bayou and 8th Wonder. No Label is only open on Saturdays for tours, and you get four beers if you arrive before 2 p.m. (you get two if you show up late); Saint Arnold hosts tours during the week, but on Saturdays, you can either bring your own lunch, or feast on the special Saturday lunch menu featuring items such as a spicy pork sandwich on Slow Dough pretzel bun, a duck confit salad BLT or hand-cut frites served with housemade garlic aioli -- don't forget about those root beer floats, oh yeah and the beer! Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. holds tours every Saturday and each guest 21 years or older receives two pints of beer and a souvenir glass for just $10. Food trucks are also in attendance to help you soak up all the beer. Stop by 8th Wonder Brewery for a Saturday tour featuring a certain food truck, such as Foodgasm, Churrasco or Pho-jita.

2. All-Day Sunday Happy Hour at Kubo's You don't have to wait for the late afternoons on weekdays to enjoy a special sushi happy hour at Kubo's Sushi Bar & Grill. The Rice Village restaurant offers its happy hour deals all day every Sunday. That means discounts on sushi rolls, drinks and appetizers. Who doesn't like quality food at a lower price? Sip on a $4 glass of wine or take $2 off any signature martini, then dive into $5 crab cakes or fried calamari paired with a $7 tuna sampler and $6 Kubo's Roll for your meal. Make your stomach and your wallet happy on Sundays.
1. Walking Food Tours Sign up for a walking food tour in Montrose or downtown with Houston Culinary Tours. The tours are given on Saturdays and Sundays. The group will walk to various restaurants adjacent to one another downtown or in Montrose to visit the eateries and feast on delightful dishes. But, the best part is that the stops are a surprise. On a downtown walking tour, you could be eating tempura rock shrimp tacos with local beers at Fusion Taco, then head over to Line & Lariat for chipotle mac and cheese, or possibly tres leches cake at Batanga.
