The decadent JM Bread Pudding ($6) at Jamaica House (6357 Westheimer, 713-339-1004) isn't exactly what you'd expect, but it is damn good. The taste, consistency and look of the dessert are reminiscent of French toast, with three slices of soft white bread dipped in an egg mixture, then baked. The cranberry pieces nestled between the slices of bread break up the monotone color of the dish. And the rum cream sauce is addictive. You would be wise to ask for more on the side, just in case you run out, which you will.
