Brick House Tavern & Tap
Mike Jones, the general manager of the newly opened Brick House Tavern & Tap (12910 Northwest Fwy., 713-462-0576), says it's a guys' paradise. "It's the perfect basement hideaway. This is where the ultimate man cave meets the temple of beer... It's a place for guys to relax, meet some friends, enjoy some comfort food, drink a beer and watch football on one of the high-def TVs. We have 70 beers on tap ...Even though it's a guys' place, we are seeing about 50 percent of our customers are women because, of course, the women want to be where the men are."
Brick House has restaurant, lounge and patio areas. Jones says the most popular dish is the Big Boy Prime Rib Sandwich, which is topped with onion strings. "It's a tall, manly sandwich," he says. Later in the summer, they plan to have live bands, and this April, Playboy will hold a national talent search here.
Dish ordered a half bong (50 ounces) of Stella Artois for only $15 and the Big Onion Stack as an app (we couldn't believe how good it was). The Bad Boy Chopped Salad came with a fried chicken breast, which was a nice addition, and the Gun Show Burger, which is served on a hoagie roll and topped with a fried egg, was surprisingly good. The food is very reasonably priced here. We'll be back for the Double D Cup Cakes, Dominant Meat Red Chili and Submissive Baked Potato Soup. (Did we mention this place is geared toward guys?)
