Still hungover from the night before, I needed a place to relax and get my head together. I decided to hit my old watering hole, The Doghouse Tavern (2517 Bagby, 713-520-1118). When I walked through the door, I immediately saw a familiar face. It was Mario, behind the bar mixing up drinks. After a little small talk, I asked him to give me something that would nip my hangover in the butt. He swore a Colorado Bulldog would do the trick, and he was right. The cold milk soothed my wrecked stomach. Not exactly the hair of the dog that bit me, but at least the rest of my body was starting to come back from the dead zone. As much as I would've liked to just lie on the bar and have Mario pour booze down my throat, I decided to head next door for a meatball sandwich and call it a night.
1 ounce McCormick vodka
1 ounce Kahlúa
Shot of milk
Splash of Coca-Cola
To a rocks glass filled with ice, add the vodka and Kahlúa, pour the milk over that, and splash a little Coke on the top to finish.
