Here on Eating Our Words, the commenters absolutely make the blog, and our Comment of the Day honors the best of the bunch.
Every day, we read you guys and pick the commenter, or commenters, who made us laugh, cry, salivate over something delicious, or think about things in a new way.
In return, we offer them a virtual White Russian.
Today Katharine Shilcutt wrote about the dude who called her a "pumpkin pie latte kind of girl," and wondered whether baristas regularly peg customers as certain types of coffee. Surprise! There was a bit of a skirmish in the comments section.
T. L. Hamilton had a surprisingly sane point of view about the whole thing:
My tastes change all the time. Sometimes I want an espresso. Sometimes its black coffee. Still others it's a gingerbread latte (tis the season) or even (gasp) a frappucino. What doesn't change is my confidence level. Who cares what the barista thinks; I'll order what I want and I'll tip for decent service.
T. L. Hamilton, that is just so...normal and healthy. Don't change!
