Chelsea, one of the genial bartenders at Community Bar (2703 Smith, 713-526-1576), has worked in Houston, Chicago, San Diego, Salt Lake City and now Houston again. She's been a student, a research scientist, a nutritionist, a personal trainer, a yoga enthusiast and soon she'll be a schoolteacher (!). Bartender might seem like an odd addition to that list, but today, she's more than that. Today she's playing inventor. "I'm inventing a shot," she announced as I sat at the bar for a late dinner. Twist my arm, Edison. Her shot, which she mysteriously calls "F.M.B.," was blue like Windex. How could I resist? How could I resist anything from this renaissance woman who will soon be imparting wisdom to Houston's youth? I couldn't, of course. But you knew that. The food was damn good, and the combination of handpicked tunes from the manager's laptop and the pleasant conversation with Chelsea made for a cool Sunday night (if there is such a thing). I'll be back. Maybe I'll bring an apple...

¾ ounce vodka

¾ ounce peach schnapps liqueur

Community Bar

¼ ounce blue Curaçao liqueur

Splash 7 Up

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into a shot glass. What does F.M.B. stand for? Raise your hand before you ask, pal.
