Country Fried Oysters

When you're served the Country Fried Oysters ($13) at The Barbed Rose (113 E. Sealy, Alvin, 281-585-2272), they come with instructions on how to eat them. The server tells you to place one of the chicken-fried oysters on a house-cured, thick-sliced, rind-on bacon strip, then top that with a slice of house-pickled jalapeño and then attempt to place it in your mouth and eat it in one go. Since the oysters are pretty large, this isn't an easy feat. If you do manage it, you will be rewarded with a great-tasting appetizer whose different textures and flavors work perfectly together.
