The Mija Chronicles: While absolutely no one I know was able to attend the International Food Blogger Conference held last week in Seattle, Lesley (who I only "know" through her blog) did attend and brought back some great insights into the growing trend of food blogging, both on personal and public platforms. Of course, not all food bloggers -- whether writing on Wordpress or for a serious news outlet -- have the same standards of ethics. That's the No. 1 (and possibly the most disturbing) thing that she learned during her time there. Check out the four other things Lesley took away from the conference (besides the fact that raw geoduck is exceptionally phallic-looking).
The Mighty Rib: Kevin checks out a new-ish restaurant along Ella that I'd never even heard of until his review yesterday. Heights West is serving modern American cuisine that seems to be -- at least according to the reviews on B4-U-Eat -- tinged with a European flare. Judging by Kevin's take on it, I need to get out there and try it soon before the hordes descend.

Chili Bob's Houston Eats: Ever heard of bun kebabs? Neither had I until I read Bruce's latest blog post on the Pakistani snack item, which looks like a hamburger made with a veggie patty. He's currently in search of the best bun kebab in Houston and seems to have settled on Salaam Namaste's version for now.
H-Town Chow Down: Albert has issued a challenge of sorts to Houston hamburger-heads: The Houston Burger Challenge, which is a list of the 12 burgers that he feels everyone in the city should try at least once. Check out the list (in connection with Foodspotting) and see if there are any you've missed up to now.
Dirty Kitchen Adventures: On her travels, Jen spotted a milkshake vending machine in Williamsburg, VA, and despaired of the fact that Houston doesn't yet have any of these techni-culinary marvels of machinery...until she tasted one.
Robb Walsh: Have any old neon signs shaped like cacti lying around? Robb puts out a plea on his blog for any old, unused and authentic Tex-Mex memorabilia, such as the cane chairs that he and Bryan Caswell just purchased from the shuttered Felix, for their new restaurant venture.
