Scoop, There It Is

Considering the Rockets' lackluster play last season, some would say Rudy Tomjanovich should focus on his day job. But the coach has scheduled a few extracurricular activities off-court. His latest game plan is to slam-dunk some of the product from his Stucchi's ice-cream-and-yogurt franchise into the grocer's freezer. The Michigan native brought the Ann Arbor-based confection to Galveston a few years ago and last year opened a cool, contemporary parlor [3957 Richmond, (713)626-7818] near his home court at Compaq Center. Now, his exclusive agreement with Rice Epicurean Market packages such favorites as the creamy Mackinac Island Fudge and delivers them to all Rice locations. Regulars of the Galleria-area store [5016 San Felipe, (713)621-0422] can even shoot some scoops at a Stucchi's ice cream bar.
