This week, we've got reviews of two burger eateries that will do well on a budget, plus a healthy version of a classic pasta dish and an update for your go-to squash recipe.

Dalida of Brunch and Conversation visited Buff Burger at 1014 Wirt, where she learned all about the best beverage pairings for each of the restaurant's signature burgers. Her top pick was a bacon and cheese burger with root beer, closely followed by a crispy chicken sandwich with white wine. The latter isn't available on the menu quite yet, but it will be soon, and now you know exactly what to drink with it. She also loved that the burger joint serves edamame as a side item, along with specialty fries, such as sea salt with truffle.

As part of her New Year's resolution to create more pan sauces, Bev of Bev Cooks created a chicken pasta with beer and mustard pan sauce recipe, complete with fat, delicious pappardelle noodles. She also used frozen broccoli florets to add a bit of green, but she recommends freshly steamed broccolini, if you have a bit of extra time on your hands. You only need one cup of beer, which sounds like a good excuse to drink most of a beer to us.

Jack Tyler is back in the swing of things with his blog Culinary Houston, and this week, he tried The Del at 6565 Del Monte. He described the space as an oasis of the southwest side, and the fare is just as neatly put together as the space is. He enjoyed the grilled pear salad, which is arugula-based and piled high with toasted almonds, goat cheese and blueberries, as well as the lobster wedge sandwich with avocado buttermilk dressing.

Do you adore squash but need a new recipe to spice up your gourd love life? Check out Nishta's latest recipe on Blue Jean Gourmet for Indian-style, sweet-and-sour butternut squash. Essentially, it's cubed and boiled squash with a variety of pleasing spices, such as fennel seeds, ground ginger and cumin. Nishta says you can add fresh cilantro, too, if you want to add some Texas flavor.

Almost everybody who's tried cheese adores it — and some studies say it's literally addictive — but cheesy dishes are often better for the soul than they are for the body. Lauren of Guaca-Scuse Me? has you covered so that you can have your cheese but eat healthily, too, with the help of this Greek yogurt alfredo pasta. Don't worry, it still has lots of cheese, but the yogurt takes the place of the heavy cream and much of the butter that traditional alfredo sauce recipes call for.

Pena's Donut Heaven & Grille, 11601 Shadow Creek, received glowing praise from the Eat More Burgers blog for an excellent cheeseburger basket that came in at under $10. The meat had a peppery goodness and was cooked perfectly, and the bun was just the right texture. The fries added to the meal with perfect crunchy outsides and soft insides. He's excited to go back and try the Rodeo Burger, which has a patty that includes smoked brisket from the nearby Killen's BBQ
