Upcoming Events: A Couple That Cooks Together Stays Together

Facon Brazilian Steakhouse opened in Vintage Park several weeks ago, but the new restaurant will hold its grand opening celebration on Wednesday, May 28, from 6 p.m. until midnight. Tickets to the event cost $50 and include a three-course prix fixe meal consisting of multiple Brazilian meats, a tapas appetizer and a dessert. Unfortunately the ticket price does not include drinks, so you'll have to purchase those on your own. Purchase tickets to the event, then make your reservations during the grand opening -- you will be prompted to provide the ticket numbers for each member in your party.

On Friday, May 30, at 7 p.m., Brennan's of Houston will host a Date Night Cooking Class taught by executive chef Danny Trace. For $150, each couple will learn how to make a three-course meal paired with cocktails. First, chef Trace will demonstrate how to create a pomegranate-glazed tuna and island crab salad dressed in a key lime daiquiri vinaigrette, followed by Walkerswood Jerked Amberjack with curried lobster potato salad and conch fritters. For dessert, he will show the couples how to make Pusser's Rum Soaked Pineapple Pie served with Painkiller ice cream topped with toasted coconut and Sorrel syrup. And, yes, you'll get to eat it all.

Wine & Food Week in The Woodlands kicks off on Monday, June 2, and lasts until Sunday, June 8. Throughout the week, you will have the opportunity to sample incredible wines from around the world, as well as food from a variety of local chefs. Celebrate the kick-off to Wine & Food Week at the "Law, Order & Judgment -- A Magical Match" event on Monday, June 2, at Morton's Grille; this $75 event features a reception and four-course dinner paired with wines from the Buena Vista Winery.

Join Bistro Provence for a special wine dinner featuring Rosés of Bandol on Tuesday, June 3, at 7 p.m. For $75, each person will be treated to a five course meal paired with five wines from Bandol Wine LLC. The meal begins with a first course of Provencale mussels, followed by a fennel and goat cheese salad. Next, guests will be served grilled octopus seasoned with lemon and oregano. The main course features poached red snapper bouillabaisse. Cap it all off with a floating island for dessert.

Morton's The Steakhouse in the Galleria will host a Liparita Wine Dinner on Wednesday, June 4, at 6 p.m. Each $125 ticket includes four courses paired with wine from Liparita in Napa Valley. Begin with an appetizer of poached shrimp and scallops paired with Hoopla Chardonnay, followed by a summer salad consisting of black pepper-crusted goat cheese tossed in a cherry wine vinaigrette paired with Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon. The main entree features broiled filet mignon steak Diane with roasted wild mushrooms and chive mashed potatoes paired with Yountville "V Block" Cabernet Sauvignon. Finally, the meal concludes with a blueberry peach crisp and Cabernet Sauvignon from Hoopes Vineyard.
