Upcoming Houston Food Events: This Curry Crawl Will Bring The Heat



Copper & Kings American Brandy Co
– a favorite new mix-in for several Houston bartenders – is hosting an awesome brandy and music event along with Johnny’s Gold Brick, 2518 Yale, on Monday, June 1. Beginning at 8 p.m., bartenders Leslie Ross and Jason Moore and Marie Zahn of Hawthorn Beverage Group will be mixing brandy with music to create inventive cocktails with Copper & King’s un-aged and craft-distilled brandies and absinthe. On the night of the event, albums inspiring the cocktails will be played back to back as the drinks are served in pairing. Ross and Moore’s cocktails will be an interpretation of “Sticky Fingers” from The Rolling Stones while Zahn’s is reminiscent of “Electric Warrior” by T. Rex.

The Woodlands Food & Wine Week is right around the corner! From Monday, June 1 through Sunday, June 7, join 10,000+ guests in celebrating food and wine through a broad selection of offerings designed for both the novice and serious enthusiast. Featuring more than 500 wines, 50 restaurants, and legendary wine producers and culinary personalities, events include the H-E-B Wine Walk at Market Street on Thursday, June 4, Sips, Suds, & Tacos on Friday, June 5; and more.

Beginning Thursday, June 4, Radio Milano, 800 Sorella, is kicking off the season with a Summer Grill Party. Every Thursday in June and July, chef Jose Hernandez is swinging open the doors to their chic downstairs patio and setting up a casual grilling station where he’ll introduce a new menu each week. The first with be a Gourmet Hot Dog Cart with all the fixin’s, but be sure to also keep an eye out for other menu items, including Backyard Burgers and a Whole Suckling Pig. Bar manager Peter Clifton will also be working with local beer and wine vendors to provide guests with endless samplings. Cost is $30 per plate and will include entree and side, plus unlimited sampling of from the visiting wine or beer purveyors.

, 3600 Kirby Drive, is celebrating six years of success by offering a specially-six-priced anniversary menu of The Best Six Ever for four days this June. From Saturday, June 6 through Tuesday, June 9, all desserts will be $6, a three-piece premium sushi plate will be $16, and whole branzino will be $26. The candle on the cake is four-ounce A5 Wagyu filet for $66.


The 4th Annual STRAITS Curry Crawl is back and turning up the heat on Sunday, June 7 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Hosted by Chef John Sikhattana at STRAITS, 800 Sorella, this year’s 11 competing restaurants represent the best in culinary creativity and a variety of cultures and flavors – and our very own Phaedra Cook will be a judge. Guests will enjoy unlimited tastings of exquisite bites infused with curry, flavorful wines, Leprechaun Cider, and hand-crafted Bacardi cocktails, which are included in the ticket price ($55). The annual sellout event will raise money for Spaulding for Children and its efforts in building and sustaining strong, nurturing families for children who have endured abuse, neglect or abandonment.
