Where to Eat on New Year's Eve and Day 2013
Before you watch the fireworks, you'll need something good to eat. Head to one of these Houston restaurants for a wonderful celebratory meal.

Making plans for New Year's Eve celebrations can be hectic and stressful, but that's why an array of Houston restaurants have opened their doors to help you ring in the New Year with lots of food, dancing, music and, of course, Champagne toasts at midnight.
Treat yourself to an amazing last meal of 2013 and/or first meal of 2014. We have compiled a list of restaurants open on New Year's Eve and/or New Year's Day to help you decide where to eat. We will update the list as more restaurants announce their menus for the holiday.
As always, you should secure your reservation as quickly as possible.
Both Americas locations will be open on New Year's Eve serving a $79 menu with wine pairings. Begin the meal with lobster corndogs, bacon-wrapped quail taquitos or corn-smoked crab fingers, each paired with Casteller Cava. Americas will offer either Cordua Corazon Red or Ave Sauvignon Blanc with the main entree options, including an eight-ounce churrasco with chimicurri, sous vide pork shoulder and grilled shrimp, plantain-crusted chicken or arroz paella. End 2013 on a sweet note with tres leches, delirio de chocolate or alfajores.
Artista 800 Bagby St, 713-278-4782
Artista will host a New Year's Eve party with a four-course dinner, three drink tickets, a Champagne toast, party favors and live entertainment for $145. Feast on a trio of tomato tart tatin, smoked lobster bisque and angel wings, followed by a duo of ceviche and shrimp empanadas.
Arturo's Uptown Italiano 1180 Uptown Park Blvd., 713-621-1180
Just as with its Christmas specials, Arturo's will offer a 12-ounce lobster tail and a 32-ounce ribeye in addition to its regular lunch and dinner menus on New Year's Eve.

Backstreet Cafe 1103 S. Shepherd Dr., 713-521-2239
For $72, you can ring in the New Year at Backstreet Cafe complete with a four-course dinner, complimentary Champagne toast and live music from Bob Chadwick. First-course options include the classic cremini mushrooms made escargot-style, bacon-wrapped quail, crab cakes and smoked-duck risotto. Enjoy seared scallops, grilled beef tenderloin or baked penne with butternut squash and goat cheese for the main course. Dessert options include a sticky toffee pudding, salted caramel warm dark chocolate cake, or eggnog cheesecake.
Bistro des Arts 12102 Westheimer Rd., 281-597-1122
Bistro des Arts will seat diners between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. for its $65 four-course New Year's Eve dinner. Start the meal with foie gras and a red onion confit for the first course, encrusted roasted quail stuffed with foie gras for the second course, and filet mignon in brioche with a Bordelaise sauce for the third course. Top it all off with Mandarine imperiale souffle. You must pay $30 per person with a credit card upon making a reservation.
Bistro Provence 13616 Memorial Dr., 713-827-8008
For New Year's Eve, Bistro Provence will offer two menus, one for the early birds for a one-hour seating between 5 and 5:30 p.m. for $45. The three-course menu features lobster bisque, seafood vol au vent and lemon meringue tart with red berry coulis. A $25 deposit is required for this reservation.
The second dinner will seat for two hours between 6 and 6:30 p.m., as well as 8 and 8:30 p.m. for $80. This three-course menu includes warm oysters with caviar and champagne, honey-glazed duck breast, and chocolate petit pot de crème for dessert -- enjoy a complimentary glass of Vorin Jumel Grand Cru Blancs de Blanc NV with your dessert selection. A $40 deposit is required for this reservation.
BRC Gastropub 519 Shepherd Dr, 713-861-2233
BRC Gastropub has teamed up with Karbach Brewing Co. to bring you a New Year's Eve Beer Dinner for $65. The meal will be served between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m., and includes four courses. The first course begins with a cold Asian noodle and vegetable salad paired with Mother in Lager; the second course features duck confit egg rolls with a house-made plum sauce paired with Painted Lady Saison; the third course includes wild boar meatloaf with garlic confit duck fat mashed potatoes and is paired with Yule Shoot Your Eye Out. Finally, end the New Year with the sweet and spicy "Ohhh Fuuudge" brownie with Amy's peanut butter Frangelico ice cream and a BBH 007 ganache; it is appropriately paired with BBH 007.
Capellini's 4721 N Main St, Ste A, 713-869-3233
For $39.99 you can enjoy a four-course dinner at Capellini's with music from Robert Silver. The meal features shrimp cocktail and your choice of veal scallopini, flounder, NY Strip or chicken cordon bleu. Indulge in a slice of cheesecake or tiramisu for dessert.
Chez Nous 217 S Ave G, 281-446-6717
Chez Nous in Humble will offer a three-course New Year's Eve menu for $75; seatings for this dinner will be at 5, 5:30, 6, 7, 7:30 and 8 p.m. The meal features items such as chilled Champagne cauliflower soup with caviar, poached Maine Lobster, Beef Wellington and a buche de noel for dessert. The same menu with an additional fourth course will be served at 9:30, 10 and 10:30 p.m. for $95.
Each Churrascos location in Houston will serve a $69 three-course menu with wine pairings on New Year's Eve. Enjoy Castellar Cava with either beef empanadas or Peruvian blue tilapia with Gulf shrimp and calamari for the first course, followed by either Cordua Corazon Red Blend or Ave Sauvignon Blanc with an eight-ounce beef tenderloin, pan-roasted red snapper with jumbo lump crab and shrimp, plantain-crusted chicken or grilled salmon for the main course. Dive into a slice of creamy tres leches, sweet delirio de chocolate or alfajores for the dessert.
The 9705 Westheimer location will host a special New Year's Eve Party for $85; enjoy a three-course menu of Caesar salad with beef empanada, a trio of petite filet, plantain-crusted chicken and shrimp, and tres leches. You will also receive two drink tickets, a Champagne toast at midnight, party favors and prizes. Listen to music from 9:30 p.m. until 1:30 a.m.

Danton's Gulf Coast Seafood Kitchen 4611 Montrose Blvd, Ste A100, 713-807-8883
Enjoy a cup of gumbo, half dozen oysters or Crab Danton on Roma tomatoes for a first course; a 14-ounce ribeye with jumbo lump crab, grilled shrimp and Oyster's Kyle, grilled market fish or baked crab Balinese for the main course; and white chocolate bread pudding, key lime pie or crème brulee for dessert. Danton's will serve this three-course meal for $62; seatings will occur between 5 and 9:30 p.m. (two-hour time limit at each table).
The Federal Grill 510 Shepherd Dr, 713-863-7777
The Federal Grill will offer a $60 dinner seating at 6 p.m. and a $75 seating at 9 p.m. Each meal begins with an amuse-bouche of seafood ceviche, followed by first-course options of hamachi crudo, a Romaine salad with bacon, tomatoes, blue cheese and Champagne vinaigrette, or creamy roasted artichoke soup. The second course includes options such as an eight-ounce filet mignon or prime rib and crab stuffed shrimp. Choose either a Bailey's and crème fraiche cheesecake or pastry cream chocolate tower for dessert. You can also reserve a bottle of Moet & Chandon Champagne for $48.
Gabby's will serve classic BBQ plates from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve, including a $10.49 plate of mesquite smoked hen turkey, sweet potato casserole or mashed potatoes, cornbread dressing, giblet gravy, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and a dinner roll. Other plate options include a variety of combos of brisket, turkey, sausage, pulled pork, chicken or spare ribs. Dessert options include homemade cobbler, banana pudding, pecan pie and pumpkin pie.
Hugo's 1602 Westheimer Rd, 713-524-7744
Celebrate the New Year at Hugo's for a $72 four-course meal (live music and a champagne toast included). Appetizers include a variety of sopes with duck and mole poblano, beef cheeks and rabbit, taquitos, tacos and broiled oysters. First-course options include a wild mushroom soup, blue crab soup and a pumpkin seed salad; main entrée options include a rack of lamb in a red mole sauce, strip steak with corn fungus-mulato pepper sauce, and grilled Vermilion snapper. Desserts include an almond-crusted coconut tart, cream cheese vanilla flan, dark chocolate chipotle cake and a pear cake with raspberry ice cream.
Mockingbird Bistro Wine Bar 1985 Welch St, 713-533-0200
For $85 you can enjoy a special four-course New Year's Eve menu at Mockingbird Bistro ($125 with wine pairings). Party favors and a Champagne toast are included. Choose between house-smoked salmon, potato and chive blini with sturgeon caviar and crème friache, or prime beef tartare with a fried quail egg on toasted brioche for an appetizer, followed by Maine lobster risotto or butternut squash bisque for the first course. Main course selections include Berkshire pork porterhouse, pan-roasted Branzino filet, seared jumbo scallops and a grilled prime rib eye steak. Dessert options include chocolate croissant bread pudding, wild berry and pecan cobbler with vanilla ice cream and pumpkin panna cotta.
Osteria Mazzantini 2200 Post Oak Blvd, Ste 140, 713-993-9898
The newly opened Osteria Mazzantini will have two seatings on New Year's Eve, each with a different menu. The first seating will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for $65 ($100 with sommelier wine pairings). The menu includes antipasti selections such as beef filet tartare or truffled spaghettini; secondi selections such as roasted beef tenderloin or seared red snapper; and dolce options include either a pomegranate panna cotta or triple chocolate tartufo.
The second seating will last from 8-11 p.m. and costs $95 ($155 with wine pairings). This five-course meal begins with either beef filet tartare or thinly sliced yellowfin tuna, followed by porcini mushroom flan or truffled spaghettini. The primi selections include warm pork sausage or stuffed baby squid; secondi selections include either roasted beef tenderloin or seared red snapper, and the dessert options are pomegranate panna cotta or triple chocolate tartufo.
This New Year's Eve menu costs $50 for four courses and will be served from 4-10:30 p.m. at both locations. Appetizer options include fried asparagus with crab meat and sauteed shrimp with toasted garlic bread. Choose a salad, followed by an entrée of either osso bucco, lamb chops or Atlantic salmon. End the night with crème brulee or a double layer chocolate mousse cake.
Prego 2520 Amherst St, 713-529-2420
For $50 you can enjoy a three-course meal at Prego from 5-10 p.m. on New Year's Eve. Primi selections include Texas beef carpaccio and white Tuscan bean soup; piatto forte options include pan-seared halibut with jumbo lump crab meat, parmesan-crusted red snapper, branzino and house made gnocchi. Conclude the night with a trio of miniature cappuccino cheesecake, lemon tart and Italian cream cake.
Quattro 1300 Lamar St, 713-650-1300
The restaurant inside the Four Seasons Hotel will host two New Year's Eve seatings; the early seating is from 5:30 until 7 p.m. for $85 ($40 for kids) and includes a glass of sparkling wine and a four-course dinner complete with wild Louisiana oysters, lobster salad, beef tenderloin with foie gras, and chocolate cremoso for dessert. The second seating is at 8:30 p.m. for the New Year's Eve Gala. This dinner costs $195 for a five-course meal with live music, dancing and a champagne toast at midnight. The meal includes snapper, bay scallops and shrimp, saffron straccetti with clams and artichoke sauce and an artisan cheese selection with dry figs, nuts and grapes.
The Rainbow Lodge will serve the Grilled North American Elk Chop on New Year's Eve.

Rainbow Lodge 2011 Ella Blvd, 713-861-8666
Head to the Rainbow Lodge for an unforgettable final meal of 2013. Enjoy a four-course dinner and sparkling wine for $77. Choose from smoked duck gumbo and venison medallions with pheasant roulade and game sausage for the first course, followed by a spinach salad with toasted wild mushrooms and lamb bacon or classic Caesar salad with ciabatta croutons for the second course. For the main entrée choose from a grilled rack of Colorado lamb, sea bass with crab-filled ravioli, grilled north American elk chop, grilled beef tenderloin or lobster thermidor made tableside. Dessert options include a warm croissant bread pudding, chocolate terrine and lemon cheesecake bars.
Ray's Grill 8502 FM 359 Rd S, 281-533-0099
Choose either an a la carte three-course menu from Ray's Grill, or enjoy a $95 six-course prix fixe menu. The a la carte menu includes Oysters Rockefeller and brandied lobster bisque for the appetizers; skillet seared Simonton Kobe New York strip and a grilled pork chop for the entrée; and Bananas Foster bread pudding and raspberry lemon cheesecake for dessert. The set menu begins with fried green tomatoes with crab cakes, cream of potato and leek soup with fried oysters and caviar, and a baby spinach salad, followed by pan seared Chilean sea bass, bacon-wrapped petite filet mignon and finally chocolate lava cake.
Rudi Lechner's German-American Restaurant 2503 S Gessner Rd, 713-782-1180
Rudi Lechner's will have two seatings on NYE. The first will be from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and the second will begin at 10 p.m. The first seating includes an a la carte dinner with classic German offerings such as grilled sausage sampler with sauerkraut, potato pancakes latke and smoked salmon for starters; enjoy goulash or a white wine cheese soup, followed by roast duck with orange sauce or braised pork shank with mashed potatoes and red cabbage for the entree. Dessert option include apple strudel, carrot cake, German chocolate cake, black forest cake, cheesecake and palatschinken. If you are dining at 10 p.m., you will receive an appetizer, soup or salad, entree, dessert, party favors and a midnight Champagne toast for $59.95.
Sale-Sucre 2916 White Oak, 713-623-1406
Sale-Sucre will also offer two seatings on NYE; the first begins at 5:30 p.m. and lasts until 7:30 p.m. For $63 you will enjoy an amuse bouche, foie gras or scallops carpaccio appetizers, followed by either margret de canard with sesame seeds and a spicy apple purée or lamb shank in a cognac sauce for the main entree. The dessert options include profiteroles or a mint mousse with chocolate dessert, as well as a glass of champagne. The second seating will begin at 8 p.m. and includes a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert for $99.
Sorrel Urban Bistro 2202 W Alabama St, 713-677-0391
Sorrel will serve dinner from 5 p.m. until midnight on New Year's Eve. The a la carte appetizer options include grilled pork belly with a warm apple-sage compote, Rockefeller Gulf oysters and bruschetta. Entrée options include sauteed mussels with Spanish chorizo, pan-seared market fish with a wagyu beef bolognese, and grilled venison filet. Dessert selections range from saffron panna cotta with ginger-chile coulis to a holiday fudge sampler.
You may also choose the Innovation menu, which includes six courses for $125, or with wine pairings for $180. The meal begins with chestnut-scented torchons with maple and candied citrus, followed by a roasted beet salad, and pickled oyster with Kabocha squash and salmon rice for the third course. Then dive into a lump crabmeat and double Gloucester bisque with asparagus for the fourth course, and coriander-crusted lamb loin with a saffron panna cotta for the fifth course. Finally, enjoy a Kahlua midnight chocolate torte with smoked cherry compote and green tea-whipped cream for dessert.
Sorrel will also serve cider braised pork butt and wilted mustard greens with corn bread crumble as "Good Luck Foods" at midnight.
The Bird & The Bear 2810 Westheimer, 713-528-2473
Make a reservation for any time on New Year's Eve at The Bird & The Bear. The restaurant will serve a variety of dishes throughout the night with live music. Enjoy crispy crab cakes or sauteed calamari for an appetizer, followed by a roasted beet salad or arugula and fig salad. Choose a vegetarian entrée such as butternut squash ravioli, a poultry dish such as bacon-wrapped brace of quail, a fish dish such as shrimp and grits, or enjoy a meat-centric dish such as bacon-wrapped meatloaf or braised pork osso bucco.
The Tasting Room 818 Town and Country Blvd, Ste 100, 281-822-1500
The CityCentre Tasting Room will serve a three-course prix fixe menu from 4 p.m. until midnight for $55. The menu includes foie torchon with Champagne apples and cinnamon toast, sous vide butter-poached lobster with saffron risotto and a flourless chocolate cake with whipped almond butter. Bonus! This Tasting Room location has an excellent view of the fireworks at the CityCentre Plaza.
The Tasting Room 1101 Uptown Park Blvd, Ste 18, 713-993-9800
The Uptown Park Tasting Room will host a three-course dinner from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. for $55 per person or $100 per couple. The dinner includes Pigs Trotter with caramelized sweetbread, smoked morel mousse and veal au jus; filet medallions, cauliflower gratin and caramelized cipollini onions; and salted caramel croissant bread pudding. Pair the dinner with the party from 9 p.m. until midnight for $89 per person or $175 per couple and enjoy music from The Splash Band, Champagne, prizes and a midnight balloon drop. If you want to just attend the party, tickets cost $50 per person and $90 per couple.
Tila's 1111 S Shepherd Dr, 713-522-7654
Ring in the New Year at Tila's and enjoy a special three-course meal for $70. Appetizers selections include cured salmon with capers, onions, lime and crostini, and snapper and shrimp ceviche. Main-course options include grilled shrimp enchiladas, chicken manchego and beef tenderloin medallions. Top it all off with tres leches, coconut flan, ancho fudge pie or tila-misu for dessert. Half and full bottles of Champagne are available to order as well.
Trenza will serve a variety of dishes on New Year's Eve, including the pan-seared red snapper.

The newly opened restaurant will serve a special New Year's Eve a la carte menu with offerings such as a tuna and red snapper tartare tower with cumin avocado and watercress oil, pan-seared red snapper, lamb chops and cilantro ravioli with ricotta and goat cheese covered in a tequila mushroom chipotle sauce. Each guest will receive Champagne and party favors at midnight.

Each Turquoise Grill location will serve a special New Year's Eve menu from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. featuring a variety of Mediterranean classics. Feast on a mezze platter of hummus, lebni spread, feta cheese, stuffed grape leaves, a feta roll and falafel for an appetizer, followed by chicken and beef kebab medallions with gyros and lamb chop for the main course. Baklava and tiramisu will be offered for dessert. Turquoise Grill will also provide a complimentary glass of champagne at midnight for each guest.
Brennan's of Houston 3300 Smith St, 713-522-9711
From 5 p.m. until 9:45 p.m., Brennan's will serve a New Year's Eve menu featuring the classic turtle soup au sherry, shrimp and grits, and Louisiana jumbo lump blue crabcakes. Dessert options include lemon meringue pie, Creole cream cheesecake and of course bananas foster prepared tableside.Chardonnay and champagne are available to purchase for the table as well.
Kiran's 4100 Westheimer Rd, 713-960-8472
Kiran's will serve a $95 NYE menu beginning at 5 p.m. The dinner includes crab cakes, poached Dover sole and a chocolate shake made with Grand Marnier. Each guest will also enjoy a Champagne toast at midnight.
Ouisie's Table 3939 San Felipe St, 713-528-2264
Ouisie's Table will offer a similar menu to The Bird & The Bear on New Year's Eve. Enjoy crispy fried Gulf coast oysters and beef tenderloin tartar for appetizers, as well as seafood crepes or The Ouisie's Original Chicken Fried Steak for the main course. Come whenever you want and stay as long as you want.
Jonathan's The Rub 9061 Gaylord St, 713-465-8200
For New Year's Eve, Chef Jonathan will create a special menu for folks to ring in the New Year. The menu has yet to be announced, but the restaurant is currently taking reservations for the 31st. Wine pairings will be available as well; no BYOB on New Year's Eve.

Start the New Year off right with a New Year's Day buffet at Hugo's for $29 ($10 per child). El Buffet que te Vuelve a la Vida (New Year's Day Return to Life Brunch Buffet) is just what you need to have at the start of 2014.

Prego will be open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on New Year's Day serving its regular lunch and dinner menus.
Quattro 1300 Lamar St, 713-650-1300
Quattro will host a New Year's Day brunch from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. for $65 per adult and $30 per child. There will be brunch specialties to order at various stations in the restaurant for all parties; there will also be bottomless mimosas and a Bloody Mary bar for the adults.
