Downtown Showdown: Dynamo vs Red Bulls

The Houston Dynamo hosted the New York Red Bulls at BBVA Compass Stadium for a match dubbed the "Downtown Showdown: The Battle for First Place" on Friday night, August 3, 2012. With the the top spot in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer on the line, it took Jermaine Taylor just 72 seconds to score on a rebound goal, setting the pace for a game dominated by the home team's energy. French superstar Thierry Henry was shut down by the Dynamo defense, and the Red Bulls have now lost two games in a row. Calen Carr added another goal at the end of the first half, leading to a Dynamo win by the score 2-0. They have now won five straight games, and are unbeaten in their last eight games.
