Galveston and Houston Prepare for Hurricane Harvey's Wrath

As Hurricane Harvey prepares to unleash its worst on the Texas Gulf coast, residents in Galveston and Houston were busy on August 23-24 stockpiling supplies and battening down the hatches.

Over on the island, we saw oil rig workers evacuated by helicopter, lifeguard stands removed from beach fronts and the boarding up of windows. During this calm before the storm, a few brave souls took time out for R&R.

Both Galvestonians and Houstonians are taking heed of the warnings and have been clearing the grocery store shelves and filling gas tanks. There's still ice and water to be had inside the Loop; read our update here.
