Lance McCullers throws a pitch during the first game in the Lone Star Series against the Texas Rangers.
The Houston Astros took the first game 6-2 against the Texas Rangers in the 2017 Lone Star Series, presented by the Texas Lottery, at Minute Maid Park on May 1. That makes for a good start towards retaking the Silver Boot from the Rangers, who have won the season series over Houston two years in a row. Lance McCullers struck out ten batters in six innings of work and offensively Carlos Correa had a two RBI night. Plus, teachers earned some swag (and appreciation) during Monday's opener. The heated Astros-Rangers rivalry continues May 2 (Phillips 66 Night), May 3 ($1 Hot Dog Night presented by Nolan Ryan Beef) and May 4 (afternoon game). Go 'Stros!
