The Chelsea Norman Memorial Ride for a Safer Cycling Houston

The Houston cycling community crowded the Whole Foods parking lot at Waugh and West Dallas for the Chelsea Norman Memorial Ride for a Safer Cycling Houston on December 11th, 2013. Riders left in groups of about 30, each traveling North and South on Waugh; South to Westheimer, where they u-turned, and then North to Center Street and Waugh before it turns into Heights Blvd. This continuous mass of bikes looped back and forth on Waugh from about 7:30 until 9pm. Volunteers stood at each intersection along the route, passing out fliers explaining to the drivers what was going on. Chelsea Norman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on December 3rd at Waugh near West Gray. Police do not currently have a vehicle or suspect description.
