It was a happier time, when giant oil conglomerates presented a public face of a happy-go-lucky drop of gas.

Chester E. Burdick, Jr. faithfully photographed progress on construction of the ultra-modern Humble Oil building, which today we know as the quaintly outdated ExxonMobil building. He also shot various other angles on Downtown Houston.
