The USA Eagles hosted the Azzurri of Italy at BBVA Compass Stadium in the biggest ever one-day rugby event in the Unites States on Saturday, June 23rd, 2012. A crowd of 17,214 fans, most dressed in red, white, and blue face paint and costumes watched the two men's national squads battle each other in the brutal heat and humidity. The Americans started strong, but went into halftime trailing the Italians by ten points. Two American players were awarded red card penalties in the second half which aided the Italians to win with the final score of 30-10. The match was the first international, non-soccer event held at the downtown, soccer-specific stadium, which opened in May. PHOTOS BY MARCO TORRES
