Astrophotographers are holding their breath until the mid-September announcement of the Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2017 winners at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Take a look at these breathtaking images from those shortlisted for this year's competition, narrowed down from a pool of 3800 entries from 91 countries. The Milky Way, the Northern Lights, Uranus and the Jellyfish Nebula all make appearances in these out of this world photos.
Winning images will be displayed in an exhibition that opens September 16 at the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
