We asked the waitress at Pie in the Sky Pie Company (632 W. 19th St., 713-864-3301) which pie she would choose, if it were going to be her last piece ever. “Bumbleberry” — a combination of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries — was her quick response. She’s right; this pie ($3.95/slice) is OMG-good. It’s the kind of pie your grandmother might have made — you know, the kind made from fresh ingredients and all by hand. It may make you angry about all the wasted calories you’ve consumed eating all those other pies made from gooey, sickly-sweet canned ingredients and preservatives. The berries are hard to make out individually; instead, they mix together to form one of the most addicting tastes there is. Even more addicting: This pie à la mode, with a dollop of whipped cream on top.
