The Texas chapter of CAIR, a group that fights anti-Islamic hatred, will announce tomorrow they’re putting up a billboard touting the Muslim presence in Texas.
“This pro-active campaign is designed to promote mutual understanding and to highlight the contributions of American Muslims to our society,” said CAIR-Houston executive director Mustafaa Carroll.
CAIR is the Council on American-Islamic Relations. The billboard, by the Barry’s Pizza on Richmond, will be the first in a series.
“Other billboards in the CAIR-Houston campaign will stress interfaith understanding,” the group said.
In their announcement, the local group cited several recent incidents targeting Muslims, including an attempt to set a Houston mosque on fire.
Anyone starting a pool on how long it takes for this billboard to be defaced, shot at or given the finger to?
