I missed this the other day, but apparently Scott Boras was able to get Eric Gagne a one-year, $10-million contract to be the new closer for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Amazingly, Boras got Gagne this deal even after Gagne failed in his end-of-year stint with the Boston Red Sox. Arriving in Boston at the trade deadline, Gagne went 2-2 with a 6.75 ERA and three blown saves in 20 games of mostly mop-up duty. During the playoffs, he went 0-1 while giving up 3 earned runs in 4.1 innings.

Gagne, a former Cy Young winner, has been injured most of the past several seasons and many think he is not the same pitcher he once was.

If the Andruw Jones deal didnโ€™t prove it, this does. Scott Boras is a god. — John Royal
