Those in search of a jump-start to their weekend need look no further than this rocking little Midtown benefit. Mark Halata & Texavia (see “Squeeze City,” by John Nova Lomax, June 14) will provide the polkas, be they Bohemian, Moravian, Bavarian, Texan, Mexican or some combination of all of these. There will also be plenty of food from these regions: wursts of many types, sauerkraut and German potato salad. As is to be expected, beer also will be served, and there will be plenty of room to get your polka groove thang on. Think of it as a little slice of Schulenburg right there in Midtown Houston. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the music starts at 7 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund.
