A pair of America’s best young poets take the stage at the latest installment of the 2014/2015 Inprint Margarett Root Brown Reading Series, Mary Szybist and Kevin Young. Szybist is the author of Incarnadine, which won the 2013 National Book Award, was named to Publishers Weekly’s list of the top five poetry books and was named Amazon’s best poetry book that same year. National Book Award called Incarnadine a “religious book for nonbelievers or a book of necessary doubts for the faithful.”

Annunciation Overheard from the Kitchen, published in Incarnadine, reads, in part, “I could hear them from the kitchen, speaking as if / something important had happened. / I was washing the pears in cool water / cutting the bruises from them. / From the sink I could hear / a jet buzz hazily overhead, a vacuum / start up next door, the click / click between shots.” Stick around after the readings for onstage interviews and signings.
