Since carolers donย’t come door to door anymore, anyone who wants some good holiday music has to venture out to find it. Cantare Houston is bringing the sounds of Christmas to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston with todayย’s concert Home. On the program are hymns and carols that celebrate the season, reminding us that hope, family and goodwill ย— everything thatย’s so easy to forget while youย’re elbowing your way through the mall ย— are really what the seasonย’s about. But donย’t expect silly pop versions of Christmas tunes. This choir is a collection of serious singers directed by Kevin Riehle, a man whoย’s conducted at Carnegie Hall more than once. His choir has a rich, complex sound that you wonย’t find on any drugstore CD. To make the experience truly enchanting, the performance is set in one of the Museumย’s European galleries, amid Baroque master paintings. Now thatย’s downright heavenly. 7:30 p.m. December 15 to 18. 1001 Bissonnet. For information, call 281-649-3479 or visit cantarehouston.org. $18 to $25.
