The Enso String Quartet is young enough to be tweaking its name (weยve gotten press releases for the Ensรฟ String Quartet, the Enso Quartet and the Ensรฟ Quartet), but old ย and talented ย enough to have established a standing in classical music circles. The group, which formed at the Yale School of Music in 1999, has both a residency at the Boston Universityยs Tanglewood Institute and a two-disc set of Ignace Pleyel compositions under its belt. Like any ambitious classical group, the Enso (or Ensรฟ) folks are performing more daunting compositions as they build a longer rรฉsumรฉ. (The quartet took on Steve Reichยs unorthodox Different Trains earlier this year.) Today at the Menil, the group is tackling Alberto Ginasteraยs Argentinean rhythm-filled sound and Maurice Ravelยs ever-subtle and understated harmonies, along with an Ignaz Pleyel favorite. 7:30 p.m. 1515 Sul Ross St. For tickets and information, call 713-524-5050 or visit www.menil.org. $15 to $30.
