The Enso String Quartet is young enough to be tweaking its name (weย’ve gotten press releases for the Ensรฟ String Quartet, the Enso Quartet and the Ensรฟ Quartet), but old ย— and talented ย— enough to have established a standing in classical music circles. The group, which formed at the Yale School of Music in 1999, has both a residency at the Boston Universityย’s Tanglewood Institute and a two-disc set of Ignace Pleyel compositions under its belt. Like any ambitious classical group, the Enso (or Ensรฟ) folks are performing more daunting compositions as they build a longer rรฉsumรฉ. (The quartet took on Steve Reichย’s unorthodox Different Trains earlier this year.) Today at the Menil, the group is tackling Alberto Ginasteraย’s Argentinean rhythm-filled sound and Maurice Ravelย’s ever-subtle and understated harmonies, along with an Ignaz Pleyel favorite. 7:30 p.m. 1515 Sul Ross St. For tickets and information, call 713-524-5050 or visit www.menil.org. $15 to $30.
