It wouldn’t take a genius to figure out the target market for HITS Theatre’s latest production. The company opens Little Women (The Musical) today, and we’re guessing there’s going to be a lot of estrogen up in that house. The performance brings Louisa May Alcott’s semiautobiographical novel to life with musical numbers inspired by Jo March’s accounts of growing up with sisters Meg, Amy and Beth while their father is away fighting in the Civil War. Alcott’s classic tale explores the girls’ coming-of-age experiences, including sibling rivalries, and the pains and joys of love and death. 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. 311 West 18th Street. Through December 30. For tickets and information, call 713-861-7408 or visit www.hitslittlewomen.org. $75 for today’s opening night performance (dinner included); $25 for all other performances.

Wed., Dec. 19, 8 p.m.; Wednesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Dec. 19. Continues through Dec. 30, 2007
