Today a local legend, bandleader Conrad Johnson (a.k.a. ย“Profย”), celebrates National Jazz Month with ย“Jazz: A Tribute to the Big Band Era.ย” The show features the talents of Brother 2 Brother, the Texas Rockinย’ Blues Band, guitarist Joe Carmouche, singers Joan Hubert, Jason Oby and Carolyn Blanchard and, of course, Conrad Johnson and his orchestra. Few musical forms have so perfectly personified the spirit of America as big band jazz has, and few musicians have personified the sprit of Houston like Conrad Johnson. This is a rare opportunity to see this local giant on stage. Thereย’s even a meet-and-greet session just before the concert, for all those folks who want to shake Profย’s hand.
