Every Friday through April 20, Saint Arnold Brewery, 2000 Lyons, will be offering a “Fish on Fridays” Lent special featuring two courses and beer for $19. To ensure a spot, you can prepay online, then show up anytime between 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. to take advantage of the special. The offerings change weekly, but you can expect things like fried shrimp and cheese grits, Weedwacker mussels and handcut frites, Lawnmower-battered cod and more. Paul’s Kitchen, 2502 Algerian, will be hosting a Houston Rodeo Chili Cook Off Party on Tuesday, March 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event will feature complimentary appetizers, drinks, and giveaways, as guest judges — including Paul’s Kitchen chef Paul Lewis and KPRC Channel 2 news anchor Phillip Mena — help pick the best chili of the bunch. Tickets are $20 per person with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association.
On Saturday, March 7, celebrate Texas Independence at Buffalo Bayou Brewery, 5301 Nolda. For $20 per person, guests will receive a special limited edition boot drinking glass plus three drink tokens for 16 ounce pours of 1836 and Sam’s Daily or for 8 ounce pours of any other Heritage or Secessionist beers on tap.
On Monday, March 9, Central Market, 3815 Westheimer, will be hosting a Discovery Series: Beer and Bacon class. Join their resident expert on a tour of tastes as you pair a variety of bacons with craft beers. You will also learn about what to look for when tasting beer, a little about the production of these small batch brews, and much more, as you sample.
