The New York Times reports that a new report shows that Texas state agencies issue too many reports. The State Library and Archives Commission came to this conclusion after an 18-month study. Why does this whole thing conjure an image of a snake eating its own tail?

The commission did make suggestions for reports that could be done away with – ones that are “obsolete, duplicative or not needed as frequently as currently required.” But it also concludes that for the report on reports to get results, “it must be ongoing.”

Maybe someone needs to do a report to see whether that’s true. – Cathy Matusow
