The New York Times reports that a new report shows that Texas state agencies issue too many reports. The State Library and Archives Commission came to this conclusion after an 18-month study. Why does this whole thing conjure an image of a snake eating its own tail?

The commission did make suggestions for reports that could be done away with โ€“ ones that are โ€œobsolete, duplicative or not needed as frequently as currently required.โ€ But it also concludes that for the report on reports to get results, โ€œit must be ongoing.โ€

Maybe someone needs to do a report to see whether thatโ€™s true. โ€“ Cathy Matusow
