We’re not sure this is how Egyptian pharaoh Rameses the Great planned to spend his afterlife, but he’s currently the star of the new IMAX film Mummies in 3D: Secrets of the Pharaohs. A mix of historic exploration and forensic examination, Mummies gives viewers a look at the journey taken by the ancient remains of 40 mummies, including Rameses, after their tomb was discovered in the late 19th century, going from their ancient resting ground to modern science labs. Mummies screens at noon and 2 p.m. today. Schedule varies weekly. Through January 3, 2010. Houston Museum of Natural Science, Wortham IMAX Theatre, One Hermann Circle Drive.
