Moments ago, Depeche Mode, The Cure, MUSE, Kings of Leon, Atoms For Peace (featuring Thom Yorke and Flea), Lionel Richie, Phoenix, Wilco, Vampire Weekend, The National, and Eric Church were announced as the headliners of the 2013 Austin City Limits Music Festival, which plans to expand to identical weekends in Zilker Park on October 4-6 and 11-13.
A little further down the bill come Passion Pit, Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age, Kendrick Lamar, Franz Ferdinand, Kaskade, Tame Impala, Local Natives, and The Shouting Matches, a side project of Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon.

Sunday, Consequence of Sound reported that ACL staffers have been concealing the names of some 2013 artists on items such as bottle caps, beer coozies, and coffee-cup sleeves planted around downtown Austin. The Cure, D’Angelo, MUSE (formerly Muse), and Neko Case were among the artists revealed this way. fun. and Grouplove were leaked in the classified section of the Austin Chronicle.
For the past week or so, ACL has also been letting artists trickle out a few at a time on its own Web site, including Portugal. The Man, Thao & the Get Down Stay Down, The Joy Formidable, and Local Natives. Monday evening, the same night they taped an episode of the festival’s namesake TV series, Phoenix were revealed.
Once again, prominent Houston artists drew a big fat goose egg. Better luck next year, y’all.
Now starting at $225, three-day passes for for either weekend go on sale 10 a.m. Tuesday at aclfestival.com. Despite the additional second weekend, they should go… quickly.
