Mexican singer and actor Pablo Montero is the definition of ย“tall, dark, and handsome.ย” See for yourself during his appearance at this yearย’s Adelante con AAMA concert celebrating September 16 (the start of the 1810 Mexican war for independence). Topping the bill for the Miller Outdoor Theatre show, Montero sings in traditional Mexican ranchera and mariachi styles, with his husky, velvet voice caressing heartfelt lyrics.

Last yearย’s Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans concert with Montero drew more than 6,000 people (one of the largest Sunday-night crowds Miller has ever had). But heย’s more than just a hired gun for todayย’s show. AAMA is a cause he actively supports. After his show last year, Montero canceled his flight out so that he could spend the day with the students at AAMA and the related George I. Sanchez School. Itย’s reported Montero was so impressed with the East End organization, he offered then and there to return for this yearย’s show. 7:30 p.m. 100 Concert Drive in Hermann Park.
