In honor of Lobster Day (which is today!), we’ve compiled a list of Five Seriously Awesome Lobster Dishes To Try in Houston. From lobster tacos to butter-loaded numbers fried with beer, check them out:
Shanghai Lobster
Where to get it: Liberty Kitchen & Oyster Bar, 1050 Studewood; Liberty Kitchen & Oysterette, 4224 San Felipe
This punch-packing lobster dish is beast of a meal. A whole lobster gets fried and tossed in a Shanghai-style sweet chili sauce specked with chile, garlic, lime, and fresh herbs. Get the sweet and spicy, ultra succulent delight for $36.50.
Lobster Tacos
Where to get them: Jonathan’s the Rub, 9061 Gaylord
Chef and owner Jonathan Levine shows off his Northeastern roots in this New England take on a taco. Piled into two corn tortillas, the sweet and delicate Maine-style lobster salad works beautifully against tomatillo salsa and hot chipotle and Aleppo chilis, while seared avocado provides a creamy richness. The plate of two makes for a perfect appetizer to share.
Summer Lobster Special
Where to get it: The Palm Restaurant, 6100 Westheimer
This summer at the Palm Restaurant, $99 will get you a luxurious multi-course lobster dinner for two. Start with a watermelon and mozzarella di bufala salad, then feast on a 4 lb jumbo Nova Scotia lobster split for two and served with lemon and melted butter to enjoy along your choice of vegetable or potato side, served family style. There’s also a solo special for $59, which features the same salad and choice of sides along with a 9 ounce filet mignon topped with butter-poached Nova Scotia lobster, grilled asparagus and Béarnaise sauce. Both offers are available through August 31.
Black Pepper Beer Lobster
Where to get it: Hai Cang Seafood, 11768 Bellaire
Look out for their two lobster tail special; but if they don’t have it; you can always get a pound of lobster cooked your way (market price, $15.95 for dine in orders, $21.95 for 1 lb to go when we called). We love Black Pepper & Beer Lobster, where whole lobster is fried, cut into chunks, and dripping with a spicy butter, beer, and black pepper sauce.
Lobster 6 Ways
Where to get it: Cousins Maine Lobster
Though the Shark Tank funded mobile lobster truck Cousins Maine Lobster isn’t open on Mondays, you can catch it every other day of the week to get your share of buttery, claw-and-meat-loaded lobster rolls, lobster tacos, lobster quesadillas, lobster tots, AND lobster bisque. Don’t worry – there’s Maine lobster tails with drawn butter for you purists, too.
