It wasn’t your typical fundraising race. Both men and women donned sky-high heels this weekend for Breast Cancer Awareness by competing in a series of races at CityCentre benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Organizers of the Stiletto Stampede actively recruited men and breast cancer survivors for the race, not unlike other Races for the Cure. But this event put a new spin on the old theme by requiring participants to run a series of 100-yard dashes in high heels while performing a series of other tasks, such as pushing a baby stroller and running with a leashed dog.
One man even escorted a very young girl in plastic Princess pumps down the cobblestone walkways of CityCenter. Too cute.
Tiffaney Dale Hunter of the Tiffaney Dale Agency, who was handling PR for the race, said that for the first year in Houston, the event had a good turnout of about 75 people.
